EP4 - Become More Productive

TOPIC: Why do you want to be more productive?

Whenever it comes to being more productive and more efficient, I always ask people, “Why? Why do you want to be more productive?” And there are usually two answers to this question – either because being productive means multiple tasks are done, thus more money, or because being productive means having more free time outside of your business or job environment.

No matter the reason for wishing to increase productivity, people have found different ways to be more efficient at work and in their personal lives, and the secret lies in routines. Having daily routines has proved to be the catalyst for a better, healthier, happier and more accomplished life.

I’m sure you have heard many examples of morning, daily or evening habits that have increased productivity for others, and maybe you’ve even tried some. Over the past year, I have discovered that no routine fits all, and I focused on finding my own activities, that would help me to achieve higher levels of efficiency in everything that I do.

Here are several things that worked wonders for me, and maybe you will find some of them worth incorporating in your daily habits:

  • In the evening, write down a list of five things you want to accomplish the next day;
  • Sleep is very important, so be sure nothing disturbs you – turn off your phone or put it on silent;
  • Avoid social media in the morning – it is the most time-consuming activity;
  • Focus on your health and development, in the first hour of your day – for example, drink a glass of water, read a few pages, do some exercise, meditate, or anything that makes you happy;
  • After you’ve taken time to relax, start your day with the hardest and the most energy-consuming task on your list;
  • Whenever you do your tasks, make sure that nothing disturbs you.

Routines don’t have to be complicated or overwhelming, so I encourage you to find what fits best for you. It may take some trial and error, but the end result of having daily habits consists of productivity, effectiveness, happiness and a sense of accomplishment.
